Abstract: THE INFLUENCE OF BUSINESS ANALYTICS ON DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS
This study aims to explore the influence of business analytics on enhancing decision support systems and improving decision-making processes within organizations. The objectives include assessing how analytics tools and techniques contribute to data-driven decision support, scenario analysis, and risk assessment. A survey research design is employed to gather quantitative data from 200 participants using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure a statistically significant sample. The case study focuses on a technology firm in Uyo, Nigeria, known for its strategic use of analytics to optimize decision-making across various departments. The reliability coefficient score, measured through internal consistency checks, is 0.90, indicating strong reliability of the research findings. Findings indicate that business analytics enhance decision support systems by providing real-time insights, predictive modeling capabilities, and interactive visualization tools. The study recommends that organizations integrate analytics into decision-making frameworks, foster cross-functional collaboration, and invest in training on data interpretation and decision analysis to enhance organizational agility and responsiveness in dynamic business environments.
